Five Years on One Spreadsheet Column: Localizing Battle Talent into Turkish

I started translating Battle Talent as a community volunteer in 2021, when the game was a rough VR alpha. Turkish is now one of the shipped in-game languages, and I still maintain the column. This is what five years of a living localization actually looks like, measured off the sheet itself.

4,586 Strings, 99 Players: The Heroes of Hammerwatch II Turkish Patch

A voluntary Turkish patch for a co-op action RPG that never shipped with Turkish. Ninety-nine people are running it right now. That is not a big number, and it is the whole point: it is ninety-nine actual people playing the game in their own language.

Training FieldNet 1: A 5,077-Species Wildlife Classifier That Fits in 39 MB

RealDex shipped with BioCLIP, a scientific vision transformer bolted onto a phone. Then I replaced it. FieldNet 1 is a MobileNetV4 classifier I trained on 5,077 animal species — it raised top-1 accuracy from 46.8% to 61.3%, cut the first-run download by more than half, and survived INT8 quantization almost untouched. This is the story of the failed run, the rigged benchmark, and the USB drive that nearly cost three days.

I open-sourced the prompt workflow I use to plan my own projects. It sat at 77 stars for six months, then gained 628 in a single month. Here is what the repo actually contains and what the star curve really shows.

Four Sim Racing Surveys, 2,364 Responses: What the Data Actually Says

I posted a hardware questionnaire on r/simracing for a university assignment in 2022 and forgot about it. Four editions and 2,364 responses later it is the closest thing the community has to a public census. This is what changed, what I got wrong the first time, and everything the numbers cannot tell you.

Money Visualiser: One Product Idea, Three Codebases

Money Visualiser renders any amount of money as physically accurate 3D stacks of bills, so you can see what a salary, a house or a billionaire actually looks like. It started as a web toy in January 2026 and grew into three codebases: a site, a Chrome extension and a mobile app. This is the honest account of how that expansion actually went, including the two months where almost nothing happened.
