Data deletion

Most RealDex data is on your phone, where one tap erases it. The little we hold in the cloud is deleted on request.

Start here

RealDex is local-first, so the fastest and most complete deletion does not involve us at all.

In the app: Settings → Data → Delete All Data.

That erases every photo, encounter, species record and preference stored on your device — immediately, permanently, and with no request to file or reply to wait for. Uninstalling the app does the same thing.

We cannot do this for you remotely. No server holds a copy of it, so there is nothing on our side to delete and no mechanism that could reach your device. That is a consequence of the design, and it is the reason the data was never exposed in the first place.

What we hold in the cloud

If you have used Cloud AI or bought a subscription, a small record exists in our Firestore database:

  • Your device identifier — the random ID the app generated, not a hardware or advertising ID
  • Cloud AI usage counters and reset timestamps
  • Your subscription tier
  • A RevenueCat user ID, if you have subscribed

That is the complete list. No photographs, no location data, no encounters, no name, no email address, no profile. There is no account, because RealDex has no login.

Requesting cloud deletion

You will need your Device ID, from Settings → About → Device ID in the app. Without it we have no way to identify your records — there is no name or email attached to them to search by.

Either route works equally well:

Emailalpyalay@gmail.com, subject "Data Deletion Request — RealDex", with your Device ID in the message.

Form — the deletion request form. This is a Google Form, and responses are stored in Google Drive. If you would rather not use a Google service, use email — it gets the same result.

Lost your Device ID because you already uninstalled? Email us with your store receipt or subscription details and we will try to locate the entitlement record.

What happens next

  1. We confirm we have received your request.
  2. We delete the Firestore record tied to your device identifier, and unlink any RevenueCat entitlement.
  3. We confirm when it is done, or explain if any part cannot be deleted and why.

We aim to complete this within 30 days. In practice it is usually much faster.

Submitted images need no deletion — they are not stored after a Cloud AI request completes.

What deletion does not cover

  • Data on your phone. Use Delete All Data or uninstall; we cannot reach it.
  • An active subscription. Deleting data does not cancel billing — cancel through your store.
  • Provider logs. Google and RevenueCat may retain limited operational logs under their own retention policies, which we do not control.
  • Records we must keep. Where law requires us to retain something — a transaction record, or evidence that we honoured your request — we will keep only that, tell you, and delete it when the obligation ends.

Deleting cloud records does not stop the app working. Cloud AI counters simply start again from zero.

Your other rights

Deletion is one of several rights. You can also request access, correction, portability, or object to processing — see Your rights in the Privacy Policy.

To withdraw consent for location or analytics, you need no request at all: Settings → Privacy has toggles for both, and they take effect at once.

If you are unhappy with how we handle a request, you can complain to your national supervisory authority in the EEA or UK, or to the Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK) in Türkiye.
